“Emotional eating” is a commonly used term today and it’s no surprise. The atypical events of the past 6 months (and an election year to boot!) have led many of us to rely on favorite “comfort” foods and snacks to get us through a challenging time. And most recently, many have become concerned about quarantine weight gain now termed the “quarantine 15”.
As mentioned in my previous blog article, true comfort foods – the foods that actually release Oxytacin chemicals into the body, are not the processed foods and snacks that we’ve come to identify as “feel good” remedies. True comfort meals, desserts and snacks are those “clean” ingredients that we actually prepare ourselves, in our home kitchen.

- Incorporate leftover meat and veggies into new dishesie: leftover chili becomes tacos
- ie: leftover chicken becomes a dinner salad
- ie: leftover ham becomes part of Sunday breakfast or brunch
- ie: leftover veggies are tossed with cheese and then reheated
